HEALING FROM LOSS is a focused, Christian-based action plan designed to help you reclaim your life.
A plan of action for reclaiming your life after grief and loss

Is your heart broken? Lost?
Did you know that time does NOT heal all wounds?

Grieving is a normal and natural reaction to loss, but the journey of grieving is often complex and painful. Worse yet, much of the advice we are given when we experience grief is neither true nor helpful, like “keep busy” or “don’t feel bad,” or “just give it time.”
Grief recovery specialists have discovered
over forty different kinds of losses. Here are a few:

Death of a loved one
Loss of a friendship or close relationship
Loss of identity, security, hope, health
Betrayal or emotional abuse
Loss of a job, career, home
Even loss of trust in God

There are Many Different Kinds of Losses:

Q & A

Commonly Asked Questions

Q: What is the format of the evening workshop?
Each meeting begins with a brief teaching on a topic that is relevant to your healing, such as how to use anger for good, what to do with shame and guilt, emotional abuse, and forgiveness. You will learn about cultural lies that we are led to believe and coping mechanisms that don’t work. After the teaching, you will break up into your small group for the last portion of the evening.

Q. What makes up a small group?
Small groups typically consist of 2 facilitators and 3 participants. We take great care (and prayer) in dividing people into groups. Often participants tell us at the end of the workshop that the group they were in was the perfect group for them.

Q. Who are the facilitators?
The groups are led by experienced, trained facilitators, not professional counselors. The facilitators have all been through the HFL program themselves. They’ve experienced how life-changing this program has been for them and they have the heart to walk alongside others who are hurting. They will share some of their story with you in the small groups. They will act as a guide for your group and help you think through your homework so you can get the most out of this experience. You will find them to be compassionate, caring, and non-judgmental.

Q. What is required of me?
First, please understand this is not a drop-in group. Our ten-week Healing From Loss workshop requires a commitment of your attendance and active participation each week. You will have reading and homework to do during the week.

Q. How much does it cost?
The cost of this workshop is covered through your free-will offerings. We suggest a minimum tax deductible donation of $25 per week, per person ($250 for the 10-week workshop, which includes materials). However, we do not want anyone to stay away if this amount is not possible for you. Donate what you can. For those who are able to give more, your generosity will help cover the costs for those who cannot give.

Q. What do you mean by “healing?”
When we think of recovering from a great loss or sorrow we often think of “getting over it.” But that’s not really what happens. Our lives are forever shaped and changed by grief. Instead, we walk you through a series of steps that allow you to process and then integrate your painful experiences into your life so you may find the freedom to move forward. We like the term reconciling our grief––and that feels like healing to us.

Q. Can I go through this program individually with someone instead of a small group?
Although going through the program one-to-one is possible, it is not ideal. We strongly encourage you to join in the group experience. However, under some circumstances, we do make arrangements to work with a person individually.

Begin your new journey. Let us walk with you.
